varrellJames R. Varrell

MD Medical Director and President

The founder and Medical Director of Center for Family Guidance, Dr. Varrell is American Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified in American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Varrell has the ability to think outside the box in a way that brings success to the projects in which he becomes involved. He displays his creative abilities, great dependability and effective skills in psychiatry through his development and implementation of mental health treatment systems to numerous individuals, families and organizations. Dr. Varrell has an extensive background in child and adolescent psychiatry. His continuing success is easily seen through his development and implementation of psychiatric treatment systems through inpatient psychiatric units, hospitals and residential facilities, acute settings in correctional facilities, (adult and juvenile), as well as in school systems. He is widely known and recommended through out New Jersey and is greatly respected for his talent as a psychiatrist and entrepreneur. Dr. Varrell is responsible for monitoring the quality of medical and health services for all of CFG Health System’s contracts. Departmental activities include physician liaison with other medical professionals, utilization management, continuing medication education and management of our quality improvement program. He actively participates in the establishment of protocols, clinical policies and audit activities.

 

Les Paschall

Chief Executive Officer

As the CEO, Mr. Paschall brings over 20 years of creative leadership experience in the development, management, and coordination of cost-effective health care services in five major health provider venues. He has championed new models of need-based healthcare services for large hospital systems, state health and education systems, as well as serving as an advisor to the Governor’s Task Force on Mental Health. He is adept at reviewing various systems crossing both the private and public sector while successfully creating solutions to their common goals. He also brings business acumen to CFG, which was recognized in business publications as one of the top 25 fastest growing business organizations in New Jersey.

 

friedmanJoel Friedman, PhD

Clinical Director

Dr. Friedman is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience. He has provided direct clinical care, supervision, managerial services, policy development and consulting services in a wide variety of settings including private outpatient offices, several different correctional systems, hospitals, schools, and corporate offices. He has also been involved in pre-employment assessments for law enforcement personnel. Dr. Friedman has provided training on a variety of mental health topics for way enforcement personnel for many years. He teaches a course titled “Treatment of the Offender” as a local University.

 

Jay Deppeler, M.Ed

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Deppeler has over 20 years of Executive Leadership experience in the healthcare and behavioral healthcare industry. Most recently, Jay was an Executive VP at Valley Youth House responsible for program and organizational growth. Prior to that, he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer at Inperium, Inc. While there, Jay helped grow the organization from $40MM to $160MM in total gross revenue over four years and aided in the expansion and diversification of operations into four states (PA, NJ, DE, & NC) through the combination of organic growth and mergers, acquisitions, and affiliations. He identified and implemented systems to increase operational efficiency, improve financial performance, and enhance outcomes for consumers participating in Behavioral Health, Forensic, Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, and Drug and Alcohol programs. Mr. Deppeler has a M.Ed in Counseling and Human Services from Lehigh University and also holds a B.A. in Psychology from Muhlenberg College.

 

Ryan Kraus

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Kraus has spent the last 25+ years as a CPA, CFO and Advisor to high growth enterprises across several industries. Most recently, he served as CFO for an active Consolidator in the Healthcare and Human Services space that closed 16 transactions in a four-year period and conducted varying degrees of due diligence on hundreds of others. He also led the Integration Team responsible for the post-closing assimilation of new portfolio companies. Ryan has built and led high performing finance teams and closed complex financing arrangements in excess of $40MM.

 

Barry Robinson

Director of Human Resources

Mr. Robinson joins CFG with over 23 years of Human Resources Management experience. His proven track record of recruitment expertise across a multitude of industry’s is evidence of his mastery. Creating a nurturing, caring and efficient environment for all employees can be seen in his experience with EEO compliance applications, time & attendance policies, wage & salary administration and employee benefits. Mr. Robison holds an HR Management Certificate and Project Management Certificate from Rutgers Institute for Management & Executive Development.

 

 

Ron DeFeo, MSEd.

Executive Director of Hospital Services

Mr. DeFeo has over 15 years of clinical and administrative management experience in the healthcare/behavioral healthcare field. As Executive Director of Hospital Services he is responsible for the oversight of all hospital based services including sub‐acute and acute programming. Mr. DeFeo collaborates with CFG’s healthcare partners supporting general operations, management of onsite providers, expansion of behavioral health services, and regulatory and accreditation compliance. He has developed innovative programs for underserved populations particularly children and adolescent services. He is actively involved in local and state hospital based and behavioral healthcare committees.

 

Dedra_LombardiDedra Lombardi

Director of Hospital Services

In her role as Director of Hospital Services Ms. Lombardi works to ensure structurally and financially our systems are operating effectively. In addition, Ms. Lombardi is a goal-oriented counselor with extensive experience working with children, adolescents and families to address a broad spectrum of issues, including academic performance, interpersonal relationships, divorce, family crises, bullying, social empowerment, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, developmental disabilities and substance abuse. Her unique blend of operational, financial and leadership skills, coupled with her outstanding ability to build productive and trusted relationships with clients, patients and co-workers make Ms. Lombardi a valued team member. Ms. Lombardi has a MBA in Management and a MEd in Counseling.

 

Moira Roberts, MBA

Outpatient Office Manager

Ms. Roberts, who has an MBA in Management, is responsible for all of CFG’s three outpatient offices in Marlton, Westampton and West Deptford. She maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures to ensure day to day operations run smoothly and professionally while enhancing patient satisfaction and promoting excellent customer service. Ms. Roberts has over 25 years of management experience.
