CFG Residency Outreach – Night Out at the Flyers Game

By Carmelyn Vedar, Residency Outreach Manager

So what made CFG’s event on January 16, 2019 so electrifying? Was it that Sean Couturier had a hat trick, or that Carter Hart stopped 39 shots? Was it absolutely amazing because the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Wednesday night? Yes, all those things happened. But what made it even more special was that CFG’s Residency Outreach event brought together local Psychiatry Residents from Cooper, CHOP, Drexel, Jefferson, and UPenn. And together with some members of the CFG family, we made it a memorable night.

I think the best part was just the fun. CFG Health Network CEO, Les Paschall and President/CMO, Dr. Jim Varrell just adds to what makes CFG a warm and welcoming family. In addition to the evening fun, the food was non-stop. From cheesesteaks to crab fries and everything in-between, I think everyone could have brought home lunch and dinner for the rest of the week. The autographed pucks and the signed Flyers jersey were icing on the cake in addition to the candy bar that came later in the evening.

The suite was a perfect size and gave our very own Clinical Director, Dr. Joel Friedman with his over 20 years of experience, enough space to mingle and share his wisdom. Ron DeFeo, Executive Director of Hospital Services was star struck when Dave Schultz, Brian Propp, and Bernie Parent stopped by. They are previous Flyers players.  And no, I did not know who they were.

And yes, I pretended I did :)

Carmelyn Vedar, CFG’s new Residency Outreach Manager and Ted Costa, Residency Outreach Specialist have now been around long enough to have a growing relationship with the local Residents. They hope that these individuals know how much their time is appreciated and valued. Karly Settle, Senior Recruiter is also a resource for our Residents. As a team, we really love getting to know everyone on an individual basis and hope we can continue to grow in our careers together.
